Abrasive Wheel Training

Service Description

SB Safety Abrasive Wheel Training is a 2 hour course to provide you with the required certification and techniques for operating abrasive wheels safely. We explore the relevant legislation, wheel selection, wheel storage, wheel types and markings. This course also includes practical demonstrations on procedures to be followed when mounting abrasive wheels. An abrasive wheel training course is legally required for all those who are involved in the purchase and selection, storage and handling, mounting, dressing and use of abrasive wheels. This includes both fixed (e.g. bench grinders or polishers) and portable (e.g. angle grinders) abrasive wheels. Upon completion of the SB Safety Abrasive Wheel Training course, participants will be able to: - Mount, operate, handle and store abrasive wheels correctly and safely - Apply the principles of wheel selection - Test and maintain wheels safely Course Content - Abrasive wheels regulations - Identifying the hazards working with abrasive wheels - Selecting the correct wheel for the job - Inspection and testing of abrasive wheels - Guarding of grinding and cutting operations - Dressing and truing of abrasive wheels - Functions of components, flanges, blotters, etc - Differences between grinding and cutting operations - Safe mounting of the abrasive wheel All courses are delivered by FETAC (QQI) Level 6 qualified instructors. Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded an SB Safety Abrasive Wheel Certificate, which is valid for three years.
